Target Audience

1.) How would you describe the target audience for this kind of music? Is there a core and secondary audience?
Our performer in the music video is a young lady; which may then open doors to various audience groups. It would defenately then appeal to younger audiences (13 - late 20s), of both genders; female as the performer is a female they may aspire to be like; and male - for more of the sex appeal. Although i have stated a specific age group, the song and its video may appeal to older audiences as well as audience members of different genres as the song is of a Rock genre but covered by an RnB artist.
2.) How would you desribe the tastes and attitudes of the target audience?
The song itself is slightly mainstr Heam as the lyrics (sung by a female vocalist) are based on and aorund a realtionship with a boy. But it isnt mainstream in the sense that there is no mention of drug, sex and violence. Target audience members will most likely be into the meaning and feelings of a song rather than focussed on the tempo of a song.
3.) What functions does this kind of music serve to its audience (uses and gratifications)?
The main purpose for this song would be for pleasure and for the audience to listen to in their own time.
4.) Music fans often use music to help construct their own cultural and visual identity - how do fans of your artist or band do this?
They would be able to adopt or adapt Hayleigh's (artist) dress sense and they way her personality is portrayed through her songs as well as in the eyes of the media; thorugh pictures, magazines etc. Part of her personlaity will also be shown through her clothing styles, for example excentric or intrinsic.

These are a few pictures of our artist Hayleigh, which may shape the target audience.
